A Must Have Assessment Tool

Have you ever heard of ESGI? This is the best kept secret around. I first found this software at the I Teach Kindergarten Conference about 4 or 5 years ago. I had always done paper and pencil testing and it was always something I never looked forward to because it took up so much time. I listened to the creator (Greg) who by the way was a Kindergarten teacher so he knows exactly what teachers are looking for, speak about the product and demonstrate it. I fell in love with it and have used it ever since. I love this because it cut my assessment time down by half. I now immediately print out the Parent Letter and send it home the same day explaining to the parents what was testing and what their children needed work on. I think because of that, I saw an improvement in my class. Parents knew what they needed to work on specific to their child. It also prints out individual flashcards with the child's name on them, only on what they need! It also does Parent Conference letters and reminders in one click. It has bar graphs and pie charts that all you need to do is click and it will tell you which children knew the concept and what children did not. I love it. There is so much to this program. My favorite is that you can create your own tests. AND..... if there are other teachers in your building or district that also have ESGI, then you can all share the tests.

Check out all the information here.
Once you try it you will be hooked.
Use code 1006 when you sign up, and if you choose to purchase it after your free trial, you will receive a HUGE discount!
This is a MUST HAVE for all teachers.
Have I told you how much I love this product? LOL

New Literacy Centers

2 more teacher days and then SUMMER vacation! I really do not believe teachers take a vacation because once summer hits we look at it as a time to revamp for the next year. I am so grateful to my friend Jennifer from Kinderpond for teaching me about blogging and setting me up with a blog. I love my template from Kristen from First Grade Teaching. She makes the most adorable blog designs and I can't wait to switch this one out with the other one I bought from her. I just love her colors!! Anyway, inservice all day tomorrow and then check out on Tuesday. I am so excited. I should be looking to see where I am suppose to be tomorrow morning, but instead I uploaded these fun literacy centers. (this was so much more fun!) My good friend Jen usually tells me where we are suppose to be and what we are suppose to hand in. She keeps me on track, although she just had a baby in April so I have been on my own. (why it is 11:45 and I have NO idea where I am suppose to be at 8:00 in the morning) Her baby is adorable though so I will let her slide. :) Well, here are my two new centers. Hope you like them!

Blends, Digraphs, Words Oh My!

Are you looking for a MUST HAVE literacy center? This is it. My kids LOVE these centers. They flip over the game pieces and first they have to read the letters on pieces and mentally flip them to make a word. Once they have done that, they find the matching color on the game board and see if they can make a word. The kids have so much fun and they love flipping the words in their brains.

End of Year

I saw the cutest idea over at Eighteen25 and it reminded me of a Candy Gram that my kids and I made for my husband a very long time ago. It had to be atleast over 7 plus years because Ashley was not born yet. Now I feel old. :) But anyway, I love it so I recreated it and I am sending it in with my kids tomorrow for their teachers. We had such wonderful teachers this year. I am so glad that my kids were blessed with caring, patient and creative teachers. Thank you so much Ms. Odwyer and Dr. Townsend!

If you would like a copy of the insert click here. I had to change a few things because I could not find the candy bars! I bought my cans at Michael's Craft Store.
