  6. Hi, I use these during whole group time or if the children start to get a little restless. The best thing about these is that the kids LOVE them. You can play just the items you need. Each one is individual and it has resource packets that come with them. The Word Dogs is fabulous b/c it has the song, and then as an independent learning station you can also have the child read the book on the computer. It can read it to them, or they can read it by themselves. I can't really say which one I like the best b/c they are all used for different purposes. I met him a few years back at the I Teach K conference in Vegas and bought it there and have never regretted it. It was worth every penny and the kids get so excited when I put it on. I am really excited to receive the new DVD. It just came out so I haven't even seen it yet. It should be here tomorrow. We are doing word families now so I can't wait to use it.

  7. Hi Donna! I wasn't sure if I was supposed to share my idea for word families here or on FB, so I'll share it here! I love to use the "I have... who has..." games for sight words and word families. The kids love the game and they feel very successful when we play!

  8. And I "follow" you on TPT. I love that site and just signed up to sell my own creations. Now I just have to find time to upload some of them!

  9. Hi I am so excited about your contest. I have always followed you since your website. I would always email you for things and would suggest that you sell your ideas. I follow you on tpt since you began, and on your facebook and blog. I would love to use this word family dvd with my kindergarteners. I have a large population of bilingual (spanish)and esl students which tend to be emergent leveled in reading and this would be an enjoyable form of increasing their vocabulary.

  11. I use ppt's with Jack Hartman and Dr. Jean and this is sooo awesome!!! I have never heard of them before. Do you just get the DVD or does it come with activities for the kids to do. It would be a great addition to my morning meeting...my kids are ready for something new :) I really love the flip chart...I do something similar but it is MUCH more fun seeing all bright and shiny on the big projector screen. Every time I give things new to my team to use...all I have to say is that this is from my girl Donna...ha! I just LOVE your stuff...it's so cute and it meets standards! It's nice to have new stuff :)

P.S. I did all 4 things you requested in hopes of winning the Time-to-Rhyme DVD! I also purchased some of your materials on TPT. I'm a retired teacher spending my own money to help tutor kids who struggle in reading.

  33. I hope I did everything right to enter your contest, I am a new follower and am so excited to share these DVDs with my school system. 35. I am following you on TPT and on your blog! Do you use these as a center (listening on computer?) or just whole group?

    ReplyDelete
  36. $79 is a lot of money. Might you consider breaking the DVD down into smaller segments and selling it that way? BTW, I just bought several of your items on Teacher Pay Teachers:) Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I use this as both a center and whole group. We do it whole group 3 to 4 times a week and on the computer, I will have the children read the story or have it read to them. They love it.

  38. This is not my video, but a video by curricu-la-la-la. They were kind enough to donate it so I could have a giveaway. He is actually having 20% off everything when you buy it together. I really understand about the price b/c that is how I felt when I first was thinking of purchasing the product. when I saw what a difference it made in my kids and how quickly they were picking up the sight words I knew I made the right choice. The kids love it and it is a great investment. I know you will not be disappointed.

  40. Hey Donna, I already follow your blog and you on TPT. Actually I've bought quite alot of your stuff from there. I also just "liked" you on facebook. I've got my fingers crossed now. This would help me out so much in my school as I am in a low socio-economic school in Northern Canada.

  44. I did it all! I think thats such an amazing giveaway! Its my first year teaching, so it would be a GREAT resource for me! :)

  45. OMG! Where do I begin. I recently bumped into curricu-la-la-la and have developed great SMART board lessons as a follow up. I have purchased PRE-K pups and have been eagerly awaiting this DVD. They are engaging, fun and make the students WANT to learn. I have taken the sentences that are in the PRE-K pup DVD and put them in a center for students to cut apart and put back together. My hope is that if I win this DVD I could add more follow up activities so that learning word families can be easy and fun. :)

  46. The children in my class would enjoy the word dog videos. I am sure each and everyone of them would sing along. Thank You for sharing Dolchy resources.

  49. Thank you for reminding me about these DVDs. I think you were telling us about these on one of my webgroups after attending ITeachK. I would love to use these with my class. Thank you for all you do!

  50. WOW! What is not to love about those cute little tunes and rhymes! I love how they flash the letters as they use them. I am a mother to ABC triplets that are three. This would be great to use with them. I am also a third grade teacher (I can see using the dolch dog with my struggling students), but next year I will be teaching kindergarten part time to spend more time with my trips. The dolch dog would be a wonderful addition to both of my teaching jobs :). Thanks for sharing! I just came across your sight and I am over the moon with all of the cuteness!

  53. I love anything that gets the kids moving and this really seems to lend itself to that. My question is- do you have the kids do any specific movements as they sing along? I am thinking it would work great on the Smartboard.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think it would be fabulous for the smartboard. I do not have them do anything specific, although the do tend to make up their own movements. LOL
