Please Help Us Save Temple Men's Gymnastics

Click on the above picture to learn more about the achievements of these young men and how this program does not ask for a lot of money from the school, but is supported through donations.  To cut this program is a BIG mistake.

As many of you know my husband and I were both Temple Gymnasts.  It was and still is our passion. Our community of friends are still Temple gymnasts as well as, other athletes and friends that we were fortunate to meet during our years there.  On December 6th the gymnastics team along with several other teams were notified that as of June 2014 there sport would no longer exist at Temple.  The Temple Men's team has won countless ECAC team and individual championships.  Freddy, the coach has produced not only numerous Olympians but also NCAA Champions,  National Team Members and continuously produces a team that is constantly ranked for their academic achievements.  This year alone, the Temple Team was ranked 3rd in the United States for the academics.

Look at this video and even if you know nothing about gymnastics you have to respect what these kids do!

This is a fight that we can not do alone.  We need to stop taking athletic programs away in the colleges. They go way beyond just doing a sport. Many of these athletes would not be able to attend college if it was not for these scholarships and programs to be available.  The bonds they form go beyond what anyone can ever see.  To say it is just a sport and we do not have the money to fund it is ridiculous.  They are breaking tradition which has been part of the school for decades.  My husband and I are just devastated over this decision and are supporting the team in anyway that we can.  These kids deserve to compete.  Please help us my signing our petition and also passing it along to your friends and family.  Anyone who has ever played a sport knows the work, dedication, sacrifice and commitment that it takes to succeed.  The discipline is something that can not be taught.   These kids are our future.  I want to work with kids that know what it is like to give 110% everyday and always strive harder to reach their goals.  I want them to look at the little kids growing up and give back.  This is what it is all about.  If you could just take a few seconds and sign this I on behalf of many athletes, friends, family members and future Temple students would greatly appreciate it.  Know that you ARE making a difference.  I wish I could share all the emails that I have received from parents telling about how being in a sport has made a difference in their children's lives.

Thanks so much.
Please click on the pictures to sign.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your support!

So Many Things to be Thankful For.....

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!

This year I have so many things to be thankful for.  My family, my friends, my health and all of you!  So many exciting things and changes have happened over the year.  Some good, some bad, some life changing but I know that whatever path I am led down, it is where I am suppose to be.

About two weeks ago, we were able to bring my mom home from the nursing home.  It has been a long time coming.  Although, very chaotic and challenging at times, we are so happy that she were she belongs.  She is very happy to be home.  The road ahead will not be easy, but we know it is the right road.   My dad is truly remarkable.  He lives this challenge 24/7 and that is not easy at his age.  My parents truly are my heros in life.  I live by their examples.  I am so thankful for how they raised me and I am so proud of the strength they show everyday.

The kids are doing great.

George is in 10th grade and taking driver's ed.  I will be taking lots of meds to get through it.  LOL  Just kidding.  Well, maybe....  I can not believe that he is 16 and not only will he be getting a driver's license, he has colleges already looking at him and sending him packets about their schools.  These are the times I use to look at him in his crib and wonder where he will be, and what he would look like, and what kind of person he will become, and now we are living it.  Although, my baby has grown up, I am so proud of all his accomplishments and the person he has become.

Anthony is in 7th grade and he always gets so mad at me because I always have to think about how old he is.  For some reason he will always be my 10 year old little boy even though he is 13!  Even writing this I put he was in 6th grade instead of 7th.  For some reason, I do not want him to grow up.  He is loving school this year.  He is always there when I need someone to pick me up.  His gentle and kind ways make me so proud of him.  He has a heart of gold and always brings a smile to my face.  I am always amazed at how he understands things way beyond his years.

Ashley is being home-schooled this year at her gym.  She is loving it.  Watching her blossom into a lady and a fantastic athlete is amazing to me.  She had her first meet of the season and not only received her highest vault score, she also has already beaten her highest all around from last year.  Amazing!  I am so thankful to her gym and her coaches.  They are without a doubt such a wonderful influence on her and push her to be the best she can be.  I look forward to a wonderful season ahead for her and can't wait to see what the future holds.

As far as Tom and I, we started on a new adventure and bought a house. I am so thankful for this beautiful home.  I can say that for the first time, I have found my forever home.  We have a lot of work ahead of us with the house, but I look forward to making it all we ever wanted!  Did you ever wake up every day and just know that this is where you are suppose to be?  Well, I can't explain why I feel like that, but that is how I feel everyday in this house.  Things that we originally laughed and said we would change have now become favorite parts of the house for all of us.  Our "wood" room as we call it, has become the favorite and the kids have taken it over.  So much for a bigger kitchen, but that does not even bother me because of all the time the kids spend in it.  I would much rather have a "family" place then a bigger kitchen.  Plus, I am kind of getting use to this old kitchen!  There is something sweet about it.   There is just enough room for all of us and we love it.  Our family is complete here.  Oh, and the best part is that we finally got internet back after almost two months!  It was so relaxing without TV and internet, but now it is time to get back to work.  What I have learned from that experience is that you never know how much it takes over your life.  When we didn't have anything to do at night, we spent more time together talking.  It was certainly a lesson we have learned now and have limited our time on these things so we can spend more time as a family.

The dogs...... well what can I say about our "well behaved"  (NOT) dogs.  LOL  They have already learned how to open the door to the house and get out.  My heart has stopped both times they have done it.  They like to "explore."  So now we are saving for a fence.  I am WAY too scared that they will get hit by a car.  So for now, they are walked, but I know someday they will love to be able to run in the backyard.  They love that the house is a ranch.... No more steps for them!  I agree with them.  They have adjusted well to the house and enjoy watching the deer and foxes from the window.  Dudley saw a deer one day while Tom was walking him and Tom did not see it..... well, Dudley took off after it.  After being drug across the lawn, Tom had to let go.  Dudley realized he was not fast enough to catch the deer.  I hope this is a lesson he remembers for next time!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I am so thankful for all of you in my life!!

ESGI Winners!!

A few weeks ago, Delaware hosted its first Kindergarten Conference for the state.  It was called the Great Starts Delaware Kindergarten Conference.  It was so much fun to see so many Delaware teachers participate in a full day conference filled with so many wonderful presenters and ideas.

The winners of the ESGI giveaway are:

Brenda Widerman and Lori Nichols

Congratulations ladies!

As many of you know, one of my all time FAVORITE things to use in my classroom is ESGI.  I have used this for so many years and I LOVE IT!  This program has made my testing so much easier and quicker.  I spend less time testing kids and more time teaching.  One of the many fabulous features about this program is that I can make my own tests or use one of the many tests included.  And ESGI has some exciting news coming soon, but you will just have to wait and see what they are going to release soon!!  Another fabulous feature is that after I test my children, in one click of a button I am able to print a parent letter to send home and let the parents immediately know how their child did on the test.  I love it, the parents love it. It is a win, win situation for everyone!

But enough about me talking about it, check it out for yourself:

I always tell people once I tried this program, I was hooked and you will be too.  Sign up for the free 60 day trial.  You will not regret it.  Use code 1006 for a special discount if you decide you would like to continue with ESGI after your 60 days or you can click on the button that says Free Trial Registration.  Once you use it you will never go back to paper and pencil testing again.  Also, if you live in Delaware this is now in the process of being part of the Component 5 testing materials.  How exciting is that?  Don't miss this fabulous opportunity!

We Bought a House!

Where have I been?  I can't believe it is October and I have not blogged at all in September.  First, I want to say thank you to all of you who constantly reach out to me about my mom.  We are all in such a better place then we were this time last year.  My mom is still in a nursing home, but a good one now.  We are hoping to bring her home in November.  It was a really hard year and my frustration is because of all the nursing homes and doctors out there who do not have the patients best interests at heart.  If I knew then what I know now.........

So what did I do this September that has kept me so busy?  Ashley, turned 10 at the end of September. I have NO idea where the time has went, but I couldn't be more proud of my baby girl.  She makes me smile every time I look at her!

AND, we just bought a house.  I am so excited.  I love the house and it has such beautiful views and it is certainly one that we will be able to make our own over the years to come.  What makes it even more special is the people we bought it from.  It is really important to me to know that the house was loved and this house certainly was.  The owners took care of this house and lived in it for 30 years!  It was heart breaking to me when they handed over the keys. It was not easy for them to do.  I hope they know how much we will love this house in the years to come.

In honor of all the chaos that has happened in the last month and I am sure much more to come, I am throwing a sale in my store.  Enjoy 20% off all weekend.  I hope to be able to start to create some more wonderful things for you to use in your classrooms.
